Nope, the game is mainly single player, online is optional, basically like those LAN games where someone needs to host the server, except that I didn't add that function, the server is a whole different program, but don't waste your time on this game, the game isn't good and I erased all the files from my PC, I plan to make it from scratch in a better game engine. (You can't make a new account because the server was part of the files I erased)
I had too much going on in this project, I have a clear mind now of what it should be.
Whelp, sorry 2 hear that man and tnx 4 responding super fast. I have a suggestion tho, maybe u can get inspiration from dragonrod's version of digigames (digital tamers, digital tamers 2), like a monster taming RPG (not a pokemon clone but a bit close that) w/ ample amount of grind (I live 4 that shit) mons having a distinct ability aside from attribute and elem types and stats (like catching or hatching specific mons lets me do specific things to let me progress) and also bosses to beat and game modes 2 that gives me that power trip when I catch or train my fave mons and max them out (like an endless mode) and finally if u wanna make a game that EVERYBODY can enjoy, just make it a single player offline game (a lot of people from the 3rd world like me still doesn't have acess 2 wifi regularly) so indie creators like dragonrod literally saved my life (sorry I can't donate coz u know...) ANYWAYS sorry 4 the rant! Wish u success on your future endeavors! peace! โ๏ธ
Np, just a coincidence that you wrote when I picked the phone ๐ Did you saw this one? https://khyze.itch.io/dw4x
Not plenty of people interested but that's on me, I made some polls on Reddit and the first place was indeed a turn based game (by like 70% or something, it wasn't a competition, it obliterated the poll), I totally ignored it like twice and did as I pleased, now I will finally gave on that happily. (Not to mention that most Digimon fans prefer the Tamer/Digimon bond, not just the Digimon)
I'm actually mimicking Pokemon to a degree, actually a bunch of stuff but staying around Pokemon simplicity, I spend a lot of time reading Digimon stuff on the fandom and there is a problem with the grind, I do love it, but seems it must be an extra, for example, people complain that it is hard to get some Digimon, let's say, like Ophanimon, Omegamon or Ogudomon, it makes sense because they are pretty strong, so I guess I could allow them to be gotten easily but "nerfed", if you want them to be what they are meant to be, then that's when the grind starts, it works because you are grinding with the Digimon you wanted to make it stronger, the main problem is when you have to grind before getting them.
Not sure if I understood the endless mode right, I do have something of "unlimited growth" planned but it is extremely hardcore and it is meant to be used just for making a specific Digimon stronger, basically, Digimon will have a base stat, meaning that every Digimon of the same species has a limit on the stats at max level, but you could go back to level 1 and get one permanent stat point, it is pretty extreme, but it isn't needed, if you want your Numemon to beat an Alphamon, you technically could, but it is going to take a good while of training.
And no problem, with the Digimon mobile games that closed the gates I realized that being mainly online is a big mistake, it is better if it was optional, something like Terraria which you play alone and can make your own server if you wanted to play online.
Thank you very much for the comment! I wish I got stuff like that more often ๐
Hey man! Can't believe were having an actual convo about a Mon taming game! Again tnx 4 responding but I just have say my opinion about that's why I'm back 4 another rant! Regarding the "grinding" aspect of the game you're planning 2 make, don't make it 2 easy! But this is coming from someone who collects every copy of existing Mon in every game I play and maxes my fave ones out 2 they're maximum potential (I have an ukkomon w/ max possible stats AND I have BigUkkomon also w/ max stats) IMO you should make strong mons worth the grind it requires coz that's like what every Mon game is all about (like grinding for shinies in pokemon coz not only do they look pretty and can be considered as collectibles but they also have a higher stat value compared 2 the regular variant) specifically if said Mon possesses a strong ability that only they have which could give the player an advantage in battle and/or is a prerequisite to progress In the game (like if I don't have an agumon then I can't explore an area inhabited by dragon species mons). And about what I said about an "endless mode" I was referring to a game mode where I fight other mons endlessly until I eventually get defeated and by amount of opponents defeated, I can get rewards (like if i beat 25 opponents before I die, I have the chance to win a low lvl price like food or a weak healing item and if I beat 50 opponents I can win a mid lvl reward like a mid healing item and if I beat 100 opponents I can get top tier rewards like an evoluter, accelerator and so on) and my final suggestion is 2 give the game multiple difficulty levels (easy, normal, hard) I know that this is a lot of work but if you want to cater to casual players to full ass monster taming weebs (me, im talking about me) then I think that u should give this a thought. Whelp, that's it man! Hope to see you finish creating a game that YOU can be proud of! This is my last reply, probably coz my data promo expires in a couple of minutes. Game in the link looks SICK AF by the way.๐ค๐๐
I always do that in Pokemon games, I always carry Pokeballs around and be sure to have a team that helps on that (sleep, paralize and on endgame, false swipe), I insanely love how PokeMMO handles breeding, it is basically a fusion, you are guaranteed to get max IV if you wanted to with enough farming, which is AMAZING!
I'm pretty sure Shinies are just cosmetics, they do have that single feature while stretching fights but it wasn't that big.
About the endless, so basically a Survival mode? Should it be with your regular team or a side mode starting from scratch ala roguelite?
I was planning on having two difficulty modes, Casual and Normal, for casual you get a sick boost of the good stuff (exp, money, drop rate), you get fully healed when leveling up, recovering at "Pokecenter" is free. (I was thinking on fully healing after a fight, but that is too extreme)
I'm excited about this project, but you got me more hyped about it, thanks! Here are some screenshots with some stuff slapped on top to see what looks better.
I stopped using Game Maker due to technical problems (I was using an old version), I changed to Godot, seems it allows more features so I will need to do it from scratch.
Kinda late reply but yeah, quite normal, I need to turn the server on in order to allow players to make accounts and play online, I only opened the server like twice to do some tests.

Do I HAVE 2 be online just 2 play as a single player? coz I have multiple Digi games that lets me do that

As for the strong mons, them having a harder level up curve might do the trick, I have to test it out and do some math, I never considered something like that: https://www.reddit.com/r/digimon/comments/1iv3gpt/comment/mehwzut/?utm_source=sh...
